Marina Quays Squashers Rules
Read carefully!
MQ Squashes league started back in Sept and the group keeps growing 🥳. We are now playing several days a week (at least 3) in our main location Marina Quays. We keep points and have a proper ranking.
So, in order to keep all this working smoothly, all members are invited to collaborate and follow certain "common sense" rules:
- All members should play as much regurarly as possible.
- To avoid people being left out of a session, cancellations must be done in time before the session. Othewise penalties might apply.
Admins may ban members that stop playing for a long time without a serious reason or that got several late cancellation or no-shows.
Game system
Venue, Players & Format
Marina Quays West Tower (first floor), open to the WhatsApp group members.
The season will have 2 parts: Qualifications and Finals.
Qualifications
- Sessions will have a limited number of players depending on courts and hours availability.
- 1 match = best of 3 games to 11 points; whoever wins 2 games, wins the match. In case of crowded sessions, matches will be played on 1 game to 15 points.
- Max. 2 matches vs the same player during the same session count for the ranking.
- New players will join 2 sessions as "guests" before entering the ranking; after that they will be placed in the ranking depending on their level.
- A minimum of approx. 10 -15 matches a month is required to be counted in the final ranking.
- Everyone should try to play against as many other players as possible.
Ranking
- Each player should post his/her scores right after the session. The updated ranking will be published in the groups at the end of each session.
- In case of two or more players having the same points at the end of the Qualifications, the one that leads on head-to-head goes first.
Penalties
The scoring system will also apply penalty points to players that do not show up for a number of times.
A NO SHOW will be applied when your name is on the main list for the session and a) you don't show up or b) you cancel too late.
Cancellation cut offs are:
- On the same day of the session at 2pm max. for when the session is played in the evening.
- The day before at 9pm max. for when the session is played the next morning.
This rule does not apply to players on the waiting list.
Finals "Swiss system"
- Every player that reaches a minimum number of matches will be able to participate in the Finals.
- Top 8 players at the end of the Qualifications will enter the Finals on a later stage.
- Matches will be played on Best of 5 games system.
